The body of a 25 year old Ottumwa man has been recovered from the Des Moines river. A spokesperson in the Wapello County Sheriff’s Department says the body of Michael Todd Chrisman was found this morning about a mile down stream from Ottumwa.
Chrisman was last seen Monday evening about 7:30 as he and several other individuals had been jumping into the river from a rope that was attached to a tree.
The incident occurred on the river near the Cliffland Park River access .
The Wapello County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Eldon Fire and Rescue unit, the Ottumwa Fire Department and the Fairfield fire Department.
In addition, the family asked the public to assist in the search for the Ottumwa man.
