(Mt. Pleasant)— A 24 year old southeast Iowa man is in custody following his arrest Sunday in Henry County.
Officials from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department say 24 year old Jeffrey Carpenter of Burlington was pulled over Sunday afternoon about 3:45 p.m. After he was observed speeding. Carpenter was charged with driving under suspension and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
Deputies say during his arrest Carpenter became combative and resisted arrest. While being booked in, Carpenter attempted to take a taser from a deputy, which resulted in a confrontation between Carpenter, a deputy and jailer.
Carpenter was also charged with Interference with officials acts, assault on a peace officer and attempting to disarm a peace officer.
