Jodi Arias Victim ‘Suffered Enough for Two Lifetimes,’ Prosecutor Argues

(ABC News) – Jodi Arias was “especially cruel” when she stabbed, slashed, and shot her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander, prosecutor Juan Martinez argued in court today as he asked the jury to move the case toward the next step of the death penalty phase.

Arias was convicted last week of first degree murder for the 2008 killing of Alexander, and could face the death penalty if the jury decides today that aggravating factors were present in the murder that made it cruel or heinous.

Under Arizona law, the victim of the murder must have felt mental or physical anguish, and the murderer must know the victim is suffering to warrant the death penalty.
