It has been a very unusual spring of extra moisture and, at times, snow. So is that extra moisture helping the state’s drought conditions?
The latest U-S Drought Monitor report shows half of the state is still under some form of drought, but with improvement. Only 6.4 percent of the state is under moderate to severe drought, from central Iowa all the way to the Nebraska and South Dakota borders.
Portions of Plymouth County in Northwestern Iowa remains under the most extreme drought conditions in the state.
43 counties in Eastern Iowa remain drought-free.
