Sunday brought flight delays as long as three hours to at least one airport, the result of staffing issues caused by federal sequester cuts and resulting furloughs.
By noon today, the FAA website showed traffic to New York’s John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports “being delayed at its departure point.” Travelers with flights to these airports should check with their carrier on delay specifics.
The website also showed departure delays of more than 45 minutes at Baltimore’s BWI airport. In New York, wind and maintenance issues, as well as furlough staffing issues, were contributing to the inbound delays.
Airports across the rest of the country were operating with no significant delays.
