At 8 am, Wednesday, February 19, 2014 the Ottumwa Police Department received a report that a skid loader had been stolen from the Market Street Bridge construction site.
The loader was located a short time later at an apartment building located at 143 Lincoln Street in Ottumwa.
During the investigation it was determined that after the skid loader was stolen it was used in a burglary at 276 North Davis Street. The burglars used the skid loader to transport several car transmissions to an address located at 214 North Marion Street in Ottumwa. The transmissions were seized and returned to the owner.
As a result of the investigation Todd Michael Sexton age 36, of 226 North Jefferson, Ottumwa and Kyle Austin Davis Age 25, of Ottumwa, were arrested and charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree a Class D Felony, Theft 1st Degree a Class C Felony and Conspiracy a Class D Felony. Both subjects are being held in the Wapello County Jail. Sexton Bond was set at $15,000, Davis’ Bond was set at $10,000.
