(OTTUMWA) – Only 6 tables remain open for the American Gothic Performing Arts Festival’s 2nd Annual Trivia Night on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Hotel Ottumwa to benefit the organization’s upcoming summer festival.
Trivia Night committee members say it’s going to be an exciting evening filled with drinks, food, music and a lot of thinking. “We have categories ranging from sports to science and music to history. Some will be in the form of questions and others will be visual clues,” says Dennis Willhoit, president of AGPAF.
Teams of 10 people each will compete in 10 rounds with 10 questions per round. Up to 10 “mulligans” may be purchased at the door for $2 each. Teams will be allowed to use 1 mulligan per round for those especially tricky questions.
Teams may also purchase up to two “double-points” rounds for $20 each. Teams may choose which rounds to play for double points at the beginning of play based on the category titles they receive upon checking in to the event.
Prizes will be awarded to the top-scoring teams and each team will also have the opportunity to enter a 50/50 cash raffle during specified rounds. Teams may enter the cash raffle for $10 per table. The winning table will split the cash pot with AGPAF at the end of the round. Prizes have in part been provided by Roe’s Sports Bar and Restaurant, Big Apple Bagel, Appanoose Rapids. Sponsorship is provided by Hotel Ottumwa.
Competitors may register as a team of 10 or as individuals. Individual competitors will join other individual competitors to create their team of 10.
The cost for the event is $30 for single tickets and $250 for a table or team of 10 registering together.
The event ticket includes complimentary beer, wine and hor d’oeuvres beginning at 6:30. Trivia competition begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. followed by a dance at 9:30 p.m. featuring local band SEZ WHO.
