(Courtesy KCCI, Des Moines) – GRINNELL, Iowa —About 40 students and a teacher were taken to a hospital in Grinnell Thursday morning.Superintendent Todd Abrahamson said the group from Grinnell-Newburg High School were taken to the hospital for evaluation after they were exposed to sewer line gases.
Some students were complaining about headaches, dizziness and nausea. School officials said non of the students had life-threatening injuries.
The problem was tracked to a crack in a sewer line, which have now been repaired.
Abrahamson said there had been past problems with sewer odors at the school, but even Thursday the readings at the school were normal.
