(Ottumwa)— A familiar landmark is back in place. To the delight of spectators, crews hoisted Chief Wapello back on to the roof of the Wapello County courthouse.
The Chief Wapello Statute was removed from the courthouse roof following a storm that moved through the area in June two years ago.
Officials were forced to remove the statute immediately following the storm due to concerns the statute would fall off the courthouse.
Shortly after removing Chief Wapello from atop the courthouse, he was taken to Omaha, Nebraska where he was refurbished to the tune of 20-thousand dollars
