Ottumwa, Iowa – Feb. 21, 2014 – The League of Women Voters of Ottumwa invites area residents to the second of three legislative forums on March 1 at Bridge View Center.
The forums are designed to provide an opportunity for citizens to ask questions of the state legislators representing parts of Wapello County during the 2014 session of the Iowa General Assembly. All four of those legislators are invited to participate in the forum including state Reps. Mary Gaskill and Larry Sheets as well as state Sens. Mark Chelgren and Ken Rozenboom.
The forum begins at 9:30 a.m. in Bridge View’s studio. League members will be issuing numbers to anyone interested in asking a question of legislators. Throughout the forum, numbers will be randomly drawn allowing holders of those numbers to ask questions regarding their issues or concerns. Background information and the question itself are timed, as are responses from legislators, to allow for more questions.
The forums are free of charge to the public with the costs absorbed by the League, Ottumwa Area Chamber of Commerce, and Ottumwa Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The third and final forum of the year will take place on April 5th at the same location.
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
You can hear the entire forum on 1240 AM KBIZ.
