Barring any last minute delays, the third 1st degree murder trial of Seth Techel of Agency is expected to get under way next Monday in Scott County District court in Davenport.
The trial was moved to eastern Iowa after two previous juries could not a verdict. Techel is accused killed his pregnant wife Lisa at the couple’s rural home in Agency.
In the latest developments prior to the start of the third trial, District court Judge Dan Wilson was rejected a defense bid to delay the trail. The motion for a delay in the trial was filed by Techel’s attorneys Tuesday. A day later Judge Wilson rejected the motion.
Techel is being held in jail on a 750-thousand dollar bond. The third trial was moved to Scott County due to extensive coverage of the last two trials by local and Des Moines news media.
